The Heritage Golf & Spa Resort blends to perfection with the bountiful nature of the south coast of the
island of Mauritius, at the foot of the hills and mountains where the vestiges of primitive forests stretch
down to the edges of the ocean with its ever changing colours…
The ambiance is the first thing the visitor notices… welcomed by the sound of a giant tom tom
drum…not a great majestic entry, but a beautiful open space framed by slate lined pools filled with
water lilies and surrounded by coco palms.
The public pavilions with their pagoda shaped shingle roofs are grouped harmoniously and interweave
cleverly.
Space, fluid movement and intimacy all characterise the architecture, the work of the Mauritian
architect Jean Marc Eynaud…. an architecture which plays on contrasts: floors of volcanic stone set
against superb terracotta tiles and teak parquet floors, roofs clad with shingle and with thatch,
sumptuous cabinetry fashioned out of local Filao wood.
The African inspiration for the Heritage can be found everywhere; subtle colours used in décor that is
pure and restrained: warm colours – ochre, tawny port, saffron, chestnut, - deeply coloured woods,
wengé (an indigenous timber) doors, copper, African and Madagascan furniture and objects of unusual
originality. The interior designer Virginie Koenig has created a style that is subtly ethnic, and perfectly
adapted to our tropical surroundings producing an ambience of relaxed elegance.
At sunset, it is pure Africa that fires up the ochre tints of the earth and the flaming colours on the
horizon before night finally falls and the hotel adorned with softly filtered lights and echoing gently
with nocturnal murmuring issues an irresistible appeal to the imagination…
Nestled in lush green surroundings, the pavilions of ochre coloured masonry roofed with thatch house
the guest rooms of the Heritage Golf & Spa Resort:
154 Deluxe rooms (52 m2), 5 suites of 100m2 and 1 villa of 310m2, decorated in a refined and
resolutely refrained style which radiates an impression of perfect harmony: warm tints, objects
fashioned out of woven straw and terracotta, furniture made of deeply coloured woods, great
earthenware jars… each room opens onto its own private and comfortable terrace, a stone’s throw
from the two swimming pools on the edge of a long beach of dazzling white sand. The bathrooms sport
the latest in contemporary design, with their square basins and oval baths framed in black stone.
The Villa is a true haven of comfort, its décor coming straight out of the novel “Out of Africa”, with its
own terrace, private swimming pool and gazebo… here the flair of the African style comes into its own,
creating an ambiance that is refined and cosseting, and promising absolute tranquillity.
The 2 guest rooms of the villa can be converted in 2 Junior Honeymoon suites for honeymooners
staying at Heritage Golf & Spa Resort. With direct access to the beach, each suite, decorated with
contemporary furniture and hints of African decorative ornaments, has a spacious room with an
original architectural feature where the bathroom opens directly onto the bed so that you can enjoy the
delightful company of your loved one at all times and endlessly contemplate the beautiful view over the
horizon.
